Stage School

Based in Bury St. Edmunds, the weekly LMA Stage School offers an opportunity for young people (aged 5 to 105) to immerse themselves in singing, dancing and acting. There is no audition to become an LMA student, nor do singers need to read music : the only requirements are enthusiasm and dedication.

Saturday Classes are held at King Edward VI Upper School, Bury St. Edmunds.
The school has its own Performing Arts Centre, comprising an auditorium, two sizeable rehearsal halls, practice rooms and a Drama Studio. The venue is perfect for both in-house and public performances.

LMA Stage School has its own recording facilities, meaning opportunities are available for making anything from demo tracks to full-scale live recordings. Equipment is available for the study of microphone technique, or running a PA system.

All students are encouraged to join the production team for a show at some stage during the year and skills of stage management, lighting design and operation, set-design, costume and make-up styling all become real hands-on skills.

As a Performing Arts establishment, we offer every possible opportunity to our students to practise what they are taught, and to give and derive enjoyment from live performance. Students are encouraged to take part in concerts, recitals and productions both internally and publicly. Each year there are performances of straight plays, radio projects, full-scale musicals and public show-cases, and participation in these is open to all LMA students by audition or invitation.

LMA Students have been successful in gaining places in NYT and NYMT productions including ‘Sweeney Todd’ and ‘13’ in London’s West End.

Students have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications with regular exams in ABRSM, Musical Theatre, Dance and LAMDA: Grade 6 – 8 earning UCAS points. We have a 100% pass rate with the majority of students gaining Merits and Distinctions at LMA.

All staff are highly qualified and CRB checked, whilst our class prices remain extremely competitive.

Visit us for a day, and get the LMA buzz… there’s something for everyone, from the very timid performer looking for confidence onstage to the highly ambitious! Ex-students are currently on the professional circuit in the West End, in Opera, in Cabaret, Edinburgh Fringe or running their own Stage Schools; with many more in training at top national centres.
